Dulverton - Gateway to Exmoor National Park.
Dulverton is a beautiful, quiet, rural town nestled by the river Barle, on the edge of Exmoor. Unspoilt by big-brand names, the town is full of lots of small local shops, and still boasts it's own butcher and greengrocer.It offers a multitude of fine food outlets, from tea rooms, the Thai restaurant, several licensed premises serving excellent food, and more besides.
It is home to the headquarters of Exmoor National Park, and has at it's heart the information centre which holds the key to all manner of great places to visit from Dulverton.
With a variety of places to stay, from homely B&B's, the caravan park and the hotel, it makes a fantastic base from which to explore West Somerset and all it has to offer. Well reknowned Tarr Steps is a picturesque drive away, there are lots of walks, either from Dulverton, or just a few miles away over the open moorland of Winsford Hill where you may just catch a glimpse or more of the local herd of Exmoor Ponies. Or, you may wish to explore the moors and woods from horseback yourself! Whatever takes your fancy, there is something on offer to interest everyone.
