***PRESS RELEASE***
Folk, Fun and Frolics for FREE!
Are
you fed up with a diet of “credit crunch” for breakfast, lunch and
dinner (or tea!)? For a Bank Holiday
that won’t break the bank, come to the third annual Dulverton Folk
Festival.
Held over the Whitsun holiday weekend, Friday 22nd May to Monday 25th
May, it is a great way to spend your Bank Holiday, without spending a
fortune.
The festival offers a range of FREE events, (they must be mad,
especially in these hard times!) which should appeal to all the family:
music
sessions; concerts; storytelling walks; a ceilidh; along with singing
and
Morris dance workshops.
So far the line up includes: the amazing Ian Idris a fantastic singer/songwriter/guitarist/percussionist with a wonderful voice; the excellent Nicola Clark who entertained us at last year’s festival with her witty and thought provoking songs; and Wilderland a one man full on Irish band, blending Guinness with passion and audience participation. There are many other acts to whet your whistle. Interwoven between these there will be music sessions in 5 pubs and restaurants in town. The host for each session will perform (if necessary!) but bring along your voice or instrument, as they will also encourage contributions from festival-goers.
Don’t forget your tankard as there will be a real ale festival at both The Rock House Inn and The Bridge Inn with guest ales to choose from.
Festival co-organiser Graeme Maynard says, “Having been involved with the Festival from the start 2 years ago it is great how this year’s new committee have picked up the baton to ensure the continuation of this popular event and put together such a fantastic programme on a shoestring. Thanks to the support of: publicans; restauranteurs; Dulverton Town Hall; and sponsorship from Exmoor Ales, festival goers can continue to enjoy events for free. We look forward to welcoming everyone this year, and are determined to ensure we’re here next year too!”
Modestly priced camping is available. There is also a wide range of B&B and Hotel accommodation in the area.
